Phil Owenby

Phil Owenby has been a lifelong leader in the golf industry, serving several private golf and country clubs in the southeast and experiencing every aspect of the private club hospitality business. He has been fortunate to have been around the golf club environment acquiring skills and relationship building from many of the best mentors in business. He is an Advisory Board Member for EveryIncome — an online platform and income solution company where users learn how to improve their income, partner with the right experts, gain insights, and access institutional-quality income products and services. 

After graduation from North Carolina State University in 1976, he began his career in the golf business at Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville, Virginia. There he gained the knowledge and seasoning to lead several clubs in the state, including Boonsboro Country Club and Roanoke Country Club. Phil joined the team developing nationally recognized Kinloch Golf Club in Richmond, Virginia in 1999 and served as Director of Golf, General Manager and CEO for fifteen years. During his tenure with Kinloch, the club was consistently ranked in the top 100 best golf courses in America by Golf Digest Magazine, top 100 best modern courses in America by GolfWeek Magazine, and in 2010 recognized as the only golf club in the country with a perfect ranking of 10 in hospitality and customer service. Phil was also recognized by his peers in the Middle Atlantic Section of the PGA of America as the Golf Professional of the Year, the highest honor for PGA golf professionals. He is currently President of OTPS LLC, a private consulting and advisory company located in Richmond, Virginia. His time is now devoted to private consulting in the golf industry along with several family business ventures.

Throughout his career Phil has established three pillars of action that lead to success. The first is developing and encouraging relationships through assisting others receive value, satisfaction and enjoyment through service experiences. Secondly, gaining trust and friendship through his dedication to hospitality, management and team development. Lastly, his continuous focus and dedication to being a valuable resource in hospitality provides the foundation for future customer business growth.
